Phillip Island is an incredible location off Australia’s southern coast, an easy day trip or overnight adventure for any local or traveler based in Melbourne.
The island offers an adventure for all. Watch Penguins emerge from the ocean as they return to their homes after a full day of fishing. Gaze upon the incredible rock formations home to 100’s of Fur seals. Or get a close encounter with Great White Sharks and Humpback Whales.
If all that is too much then kick back on isolated beaches as the waves crash down in front of the golden sunset skies. This is Phillip Island.

Where to Stay & How to Get There
If you are backpacking or traveling on a budget then there are plenty of options when it comes to accomodation. Australia is expensive! Just be prepared to spend a lot more on accomodation than you would in South East Asia.
Here are a couple options for budget accomodation:
Camping: There are several campsites on and around Phillip Island. Sleeping in a tent or camper van is a great way to save money on your accomodation costs. A camper van also doubles as your mode of transport.
Try Phillip Island Caravan Park. They also have cabins that go for as little as $24 per person!
Air bNb: If you plan to stay a little longer and want access to your own amenities then an Air bNb is a great option. You can find Air bNb’s on Phillip Island and in the towns nearby.
